I started college with a graphic design major, but was, as I say, ‘corrupted’ by ceramics. Throwing a stable job future aside, I changed my major later graduating with a BFA in ceramics. I was in love with the feel of the clay, the mess it made and the functional objects it produced.
After graduating, I shared a studio with 7 other artists in an industrial park of Denver. During the late night hours, I grew to love decorating the pottery with different glaze colors and surface decoration as much as I did using the potter’s wheel to create them.
My work of is inspired by the simple things in nature. Bugs, butterflies and birds. I choose simple shapes focusing on craftsmanship, because each piece is made for everyday use.
